Our Barley Ev. Lutheran Church
This was the 2nd Mission Congregation we launched beginning with a Christmas Eve Worship Service on December 24, 1992. Regular Sunday Worship began on the first Sunday in January 1993. The old Stone Church had been closed for 12 years. Originally closed by the LCA but title to the Church and Cemetery was conveyed to a Barley Trustees group and they were happy to have a new Barley Congregation launched in December 1992. The New Barley Congregation makes an annual donation to the Trustees and has acquired and additional acre of land, contiguous to the historic Stone Church, upon which a Well was drilled and a Picnic and Meeting Pavilion was constructed. This is a Picture of the Exterior of the historic Barley Church. The Church was constructed of field stone collected by farmers from the neighboring fields prior to the Civil War and is included on the National registry of Historic Buildings. January of the current 2020 year marks the 27th year that the formerly closed Church has been reopened.
